Mod for non-VESA monitors?

Has anyone modded or come across a solution to let them use a monitor without VESA wall mounting support on their Obutto? I recently discovered that my dream display (Acer Predator Z35) does not have VESA mounts or a detachable stand. I pretty much already decided it was the only acceptable sidegrade to replace my aging 3x120hz 24″ LCDs.

I’ve been thinking about trying to make an angle bracket/platform of some kind that would bolt to the existing VESA stand on my Ozone, but then have a shelf large enough for the monitor to sit on.
