Been assembling my r3volution slowly over the last few days, work taking too long, etc.

Finally got to the seat : was really looking forward to this bit as it makes the whole thing actually seem like something you sit in.

Got the rear bolts in. Slid the seat back to put the front bolts in. Slid seat forward again to put some weight on the front of the runner.

Now the seat won’t slide.. have removed seat and here is the problem

Here’s the rear of the slide pin retraction mechanism ; the handle connects to this steel rocker via this tab.

    Right slide pin retractor

Alas, the tab has broken off, as you can see when the lever is depressed

    Busted slide pin retractor

This looks like the tabs were bent too far when the chair was assembled and it’s fatigued the metal ; you can compare the right side, where both tabs are bent beyond 90 degrees

… with the left side, which has straight tabs

    Straight slide retraction assembly

It worked once or twice, but it looks like that’s all it had in it – it’s snapped off under load.

It’s just about possible to move the chair on the slider by reaching underneath and moving this bracket with your finger, but that’s clearly not ideal.
