Some of the best video games were made when technology wasn’t as advanced as it is today. The games were great, but held back by the limited polygons they could display on the screen. Just imagine how Crash Bandicoot would look if it were remade with modern technology.
Years ago, you could be found in your bedroom playing games on your Xbox or Playstation while sitting on your bed. You had no big-screen television and your pillow served as sort of a platform to hold your control pad.
Obutto, your source for gaming cockpits, offers you this list of video games that deserve a remake.
Metal Gear Solid
The Metal gear series revolves around a special forces operative, named Solid Snake, who would sneak around trying to accomplish his mission. This is a great game that was a critical success.
However, it was introduced in 1987 and is an 8-bit game so graphics are pretty poor. A remake of this game would make plenty of older gamers quite happy.
Metroid
Metroid is a science fiction action game created by Nintendo and originally released in 1986. The game follows the adventures of space bounty hunter Samus Aran. It is her job to protect the galaxy from space pirates who are attempting to harness the power of the Metroid creatures. That’s right, you did not misread that, Samus is a female. Think of the game as a cross between The Legend of Zelda and Super Mario Brothers.
But unlike Zelda and Mario Brothers, Metroid is dark and solemn, with a looming feeling of isolation. It would be great if this game were to be updated.
Silent Hill
In the gaming world, the 1990s were regarded as the decade of survival horror. You are probably familiar with the Resident Evil series, it was wildly popular and spawned several movies.
One survival horror game that you may have missed is Silent Hill. Silent Hill is unique in that the protagonist is not a fighter, but just a normal person. You control Harry Mason as he searches for his lost adopted daughter in a fictional town.
The town is full of fog and monsters. The choices you make as Harry can lead to various endings, some of which are good and some which are bad. The graphics in the original game are limited, which lessens the horror element. A remake would do this game the justice it deserves.
MechAssault
MechAssault was extremely popular when it came out, and for very good reasons. Players controlled giant bipedal robots that had various weapons they could use. This was the game everybody was playing when Xbox Live was launched.
The MechAssault servers have been shut down for quite some time. Somebody needs to look into recreating this game.
Jade Empire
Jade Empire is a game often described as an action-adventure game full of Chinese mythology and pop culture references. It is basically a Kung Fu fighting game where players are fighting for revenge against a tyrannical emperor.
The game garnered excellent reviews and was called “imaginative” and “incredibly immersive to play.”
If any of these games were to get rebooted, you will want to play them in a gaming cockpit. Order your today from Obutto.
